[BACK TO MENU]

track 1: [audio diary 2]

Well, well here we are. Age 39, looking over from my hotel window. Wondering whether to jump out or get back in bed, so I get back in bed — hmm.

track 2: Not For Love Nor Money

Illusions come, illusions go
Sex and... Sex and drugs, and fool's goals
But I have seen it all before
But it's not dèjá vu, it's something more

But not for love nor money
No, not for love nor money

Illusions come, illusions go
Sex and drugs, and fool's goals
Well I've seen the scene, it all before It ain't dèjá vu, it's something much more

No, not for love nor money
No, not for love nor money

No, not for love nor money
No, not for love nor money
Will I do, well what I don't wanna

track 3: [dialogue 1]

John: You'll be five next year on october the ninth, the same day that I'll be 40 next year. There's nothing I can do to get to be 40 quicker. I have to be 39 for one whole year. And you have to be four for a whole year. You can't rush it.

Sean: I'm waiting, I wanted to be four.

John: Well, you are four. And next you're gonna be five.

Sean: That's what I wanted to... go to someone else's birthday and be four, it's so quickly.

John: But you can't, you see. You have to be each number for a whole year. And a year is 365 days. That's how long a year is. 365 days.

Sean: Oh.

John: Hmm, hmm.

Sean: Well I love you.

John: I love you too, sweet-heart.

Sean: Maxie went to my birthday too, so he's four just like me.

John: Hmm, hmm, I understand what you said.

Sean: OK?

John: Yeah, but he doesn't become the same age as you just because he goes to your birthday party. You see, because he was already four when he went to your birthday party. When you woke up that morning... The night before you were four, you were only three. So you were only three that one day of your birthday party. You were four.. That was the first day you were four. That day of your birthday party, but Max had already been four for... I don't know, quite a few months, I don't know how much older he is. You see, size isn't age. You could be as tall as me, maybe, but you could still be four. Not really, but... You know? So you could be... Maybe you meet some... somebody, a little child, that was taller than you and was only three. You never know. People are all different sizes.

Sean: When people melt after they melt, and they finished, and the melting is... finished, did they die after they melted?

John: Oh yes. Well, your body dies, but then you go into the spirit body, the one we were talking about before, made of light. Looks just the same, but it's all just... can go through walls and everything.

Sean: You don't need to see with the other body?

John: Ah, well you do see, but you just don't need these kind of eyes to see. You have a different kind of seeing. Where you can see in the back of your head and all around, all at once.

Sean: Other head?

John: Yeah.

Sean: And there, where your feet are?

John: Yes, all ways. All at once.

Sean: And where your knees is?

John: Everywhere at once you can see.

Sean: And on your chest?

John: hmm, hmm, you can see the whole thing.

Sean: Oh, and even inside your body you can see there inside your body?

John: Well, you can see right through it, cause it's made just of light.

Sean: What are you? A bugger?

John: Bugger what? Why do you say that?

Sean: Bugger, bugger is a jester expression, just like milk way.

John: Hmm, hmm, kinda like that.

track 4: [dialogue 2]

Sean: I need ***

John: Yes. I got it.

Yoko: ***

John: Oh yes, it's a good story. There you go. Well, let's — Let's do another one on the next one. Cause this one's too good, just like that.

Sean: Okay, I make the same one.

John: Okay, that's fine by me.

Yoko: It's so funny sometimes

Sean: This time I'm making a different one.

John: Oh good, looks even more scary than the other one.

Sean: Okay, okay now the other monster.

John: Oh, I see. What about you naming everything here, ha?

Sean: I forgot.

John: Oh, I know. That looks like a scary thing. Does it have a name?

Sean: Yeah, it's called ***

John: ***? That sounds terrible. Sounds like kinda sneaky, doesn't it?

Sean: Yeah. ***.

John: ***

Sean: That's a name for a monster.

John: You're telling me.

Yoko: I was thinking about what we said about, ah, ***

John: Hmm, hmm.

Yoko: Of course, that's why it's famous, it's japanese ***

Sean: Hey! That's not, that's not *** I'm going to make the *** look scary, too.

Yoko: ***

John: Yeah.

Yoko: It's so hard, you know.

John: Hmm.

Yoko: But, ah, knowing both *** makes it very, ah, interesting ***, you know.

John: Hmm, hmm.

Yoko: You *** each time.

John: Yeah. What's that?

Sean: That's smoke coming out of the A.

John: Oh my goodness, a smoking A.

Sean: To the other monster, but....

John: He looks like a ghost, this one, floating around like that.

Sean: You know what? All these letters are their friends.

John: Uh-huh, I see.

Sean: But the smoke kills people, but the smoke. *** so they can't kill — so this smoke can't kill them.

John: Uh, I see. And what about us? Does it kill us?

Sean: No.

John: Thank goodness.

Sean: Because it's not in real life.

John: Okay.

Sean: We could only fight with them.

John: Oh, I see.

Sean: We have more, we have more, we have more. *** and more. And more fatter bones to fight. And then we will — will kill them.

John: Oh, good. You wanna do another? Or you had enough now?

Sean: Hmm, I think I'll show mommy both of them.

John: Okay. Why don't you...

Sean: And then I'll show, and then I'll show you, too.

John: Uh, okay.

Sean: That's better, looks like you.

John: It's a big smile there.

Sean: That's how your hair is.

John: Thank you.

Sean: Your hair is curly.

John: Thank you.

Sean: And here's me.

John: Oh great, we're all together, are we?

Sean: There is momma.

John: Oh.

Sean: This is her long, long hair.

John: Yes, it looks great.

Sean: There I am.

John: Great, you have the long hair, too.

Sean: Yeah, but a little more shorter.

John: Yes, I see. That's beautiful. Are you gonna put your name on this one? I like it very much.

Sean: Okay.

John: Family portrait, that one, isn't it?

Sean: And I'm going to put the ***, you know those ***. This is — in that other — in that, in that, in, in that cold country.

John: Oh, in a snow kind of country.

Sean: The kind — the one with the house on the water.

John: Oh, Cold — Cold Spring Horror, yes, yes, I know.

Sean: Yes, Cold Spring Harbor.

John: That's right.

Sean: And — and — and the TV.

John: Okay.

Sean: There's the drum sticks.

John: Oh, that's the Thanksgiving thing? *** Yes, yes. I *** them drumsticks from the pool, right.

Sean: Yeas, drum sticks on the parade.

John: Uh, Thanksgiving Day parade on the TV.

Sean: Yeah. And the TV has some hair. Mommy wouldn't know this is the TV.

John: Well, we can tell her.

Sean: Okay. And here's Uda-San. She's has lines on her face.

Yoko: Has what?

John: Lines on her face. Okay, who else was there? Now draw everybody.

Sean: And Fred.

John: Right, Fred was there.

Sean: That's the chin.

John: Hmm.

Sean: That's — that's the mouth. That's the nose. There he is.

John: My goodness.

Sean: The Freddy Fred Ted.

John: He looks pretty happy, doesn't he? Oh good, he's got some hair, too.

Sean: He has curly hair just like you.

John: Hmm. That's great.

Sean: And then — Sean Ono Lennon.

John: Right, right.

Sean: I mean, N-O-N.

John: That's the end of 'Lennon', yeah, you know. Nobody downstairs, picking up?

Yoko: Ah, I think ***

John: Oh.

Yoko: But there's the ***

John: Oh well, the answering service is picking up?

Yoko: And Fred is gonna come back at six. Oh, what time is it now?

John: It's not five yet.

Yoko: Uh, good.

John: It's 4.58.

Yoko: *** at 6.30.

Sean: N-O-N. *** Okay, N-O-N.

John: Great, great, I love this, everybody's in it. Including the TV, it's great.

Sean: How about ***?

John: Oh Lord, he was there too, wasn't he? Yes. You got a good memory, haven't you?

Sean: He got a more round face.

John: Uh.

Sean: This is the part of the hair. He has long hair just like my momma.

John: He does?

Sean: Yeah. *** There he is.

John: Well, like everybody, isn't it? And we get 'em all down at the bottom here. Well. Left to right it goes. Fred... ***... Mommy...

Sean: Daddy.

John: No, Sean comes next to mommy. Daddy... Uda-San.

Sean: Where's Fred?

John: Here is Fred. Fred — *** and TV. Now watch the date. It's november.

Sean: I'm going to give mommy ***

John: Okay, don't bend them up when you *** This side, this side. Don't bend 'em up too much.

Sean: Mama. Open your eyes.

Yoko: ***.

Sean: I did it.

Yoko: It's very good ***.

John: Yeah, show the family at Cold Spring Harbor. ***

Sean: This is the family of Cold Spring Harbor. And it's Cold Spring Harbor.

Yoko: I see. Why are they all looking funny like that?

John: They're not looking funny, they're looking happy.

Sean: And the TV has some hair.

Yoko: Oh, I see.

Sean: And the drum sticks, and the drum.

Yoko: Oh, I see.

Sean: They're all watching TV.

Yoko: Oh, I see, that's what it is. Uh-huh, uh-huh.

Sean: Mama, ***.

John: Yeah, I'm looking after them here.

Sean: Aren't they great?

John: They are great, yes.

Sean: Aren't they, Mama?

Yoko: Yes, they're fantastic. You're a very clever boy. ***

Sean: But that's you acting. That's you and mommy acting.

John: Acting? I see.

Sean: Acting at a show.

John: Uh.

Yoko: He-he, which one is that?

Sean: The show where you need help and Ringo's trying to... and Ringo has a ring and they're trying to get it off.

Yoko: Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.

Sean: That show.

Yoko: Uh-huh.

Sean: Dou you neeeeed anybody, I need somebody to love. Do you neeeed anybody, I need somebody to love. Do you neeeed anybody, I need somebody to love. Do you neeeed anybody, I need somebody to love.

John: Good.

Sean: That's my favourite song.

John: Very good.

Sean: Who would sing 'I Need Somebody To Love'? You?

John: No, Ringo, but Paul and I were singing with him.

Yoko: What's the song called?

John: Erm, what would you think — erm, erm

Sean: what would would you...

John: ...think, erm, what's it called? I've forgotten what it's called.

Sean: What would you think think if I sang you a song.

John: Sang out of tune, you know. Oh, 'With A Little Help From My Friends', that's what it's called.

Sean: A little help by my friends.

John: Yeah, eating on the table. ***

Yoko: What are you guys eating?

John: Your old oranges eating, from last night.

Sean: Maxie is in the country.

John: Already?

Sean: Now, we saw him, and I played with him. And then he — and he was going ***

John: Uh. I see.

Sean: What's all this horse stuff?

John: ***

Sean: ***

John: Hmm?

Sean: ***

John: ***

Sean: Finished.

John: Well, then put the rest of it in the garbage, with all the papers. And then just reach your hand under the ***. You have to stick it up.

Sean: Daddy...

John: Yeah, put the light off.

Sean: Daddy...

John: Yeah. What?

Sean: They have to be rolled on.

John: Uh. *** place making them short. Not too short this time. ***

Sean: Nothing. ***

track 5: Sean's "In The Sky"

Sean: Daddy, when did we have no house?

John: When?

Sean: When, when did we have no house, and we rented this house? I mean, ah...

Yoko: 1973 we didn't have this house yet, that's when we bought this house.

Sean: Oh.

John: Two years before you were born.

Sean: Oh, and I were then coming with you to find this house?

John: No, you weren't born yet, you were still in the sky.

Sean: Oh. And when I came back down here, what did I went then on?

John: A little... A little cardboard box. With a little banket in it. A little ***. Teeny, tiny, little sunshine, in a little, teeny, tiny carboard box. There you sat ***apples***. And you were sitting just here.

Sean: I never heard of that apple box.

John: Well, a little cardboard box like that, see. Like there'd been the groceries in, but it's you instead of the groceries.

John: I left it on, so it's recording now. So anything you want to do will be on the tape.

Sean: Wipe my hands off.

John: Yeah, I know, don't worry about it.

Sean: Yeah! I like it very loud.

John: Well, that's how I like it, too.

Sean: Won't you make it more louder?

John: I can't, I can't make it any, any louder than, than it is. It's on full, you see.

John: Pretty good, you wanna hear it?

John: Pretty good.

Sean: I'm going to the bathroom.

John: Okay, I'll put the tape on hold.

Sean: 2-3-4-ready!

John: Oh... yeah, don't pull it too hard, though, you'll break it.

John: That's nice... that was a nice noise.

John: If you wiggle the volume knob, then you get wow-wow-wow-wow, after you've hit it.

John: No, the other one, the nearest one.

John: You hit it and then do that. No, no, I mean play it, then do that. I mean...

John: Now do it! Click it.

Sean: I don't get that, I don't get that... I don't get that —

Oh, how she runs those rings around them
Oh, how she runs those rings around them

Mm, how she weaves her magic circles
Yeah, and she runs them 'round in circles
And she runs those rings around them

Out on the ocean, drifting away
I can hardly wait to see the Golden Gate
A heart full of love and anticipation
Well it's a long way to go, a hard row to hoe
Long way to go, but in the meantime

Before you cross the street, take me by the hand
The traffic's slow but you never know when you meet some man

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy

Close your eyes, have no fear
The monster's gone, they're on the run and your daddy's here

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy

Out on the ocean, drifting away
I can hardly wait to see the Golden Gate
A heart full of love and anticipating
But it's a long way to go, a hard row to hoe
Long way to go, but in the meantime

Before you go to sleep, say a little prayer
Everyday, in everyway, it's getting better and better

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful darling boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, darling boy

track 12: Many Rivers To Cross / My Girl

Many rivers to cross
But I just can't seem to find
My way over

Wandering, I'm lost
And I just can't seem to find
Because of my pride

My woman left me and I don't know why
My woman left me and I don't know why
I guess I'll have to try

Many rivers to cross
But I just can't seem to find
My way over

Wandering, I'm lost
But I can't accept my dice
Because of my pride

My girl...
