Either the source material for this release was '2nd hand' or the mastering to CD was done in a 'sloppy' fashion because occasionally (soft) pops and cracks are audible. Nevertheless I really enjoyed this CD and I'll be listening to it again and again because the songs are played well with a great 'roughness.' Listen to tracks 9, 10 and 11 (taken from a promotion flexi) and you'll know what I mean! The source for the first 5 tracks (Newcastle 1973) obviously was an acetate or some other kind of vinyl medium but this portion of the concert sounds better to me than the cleaner songs on the Unsurpassed Masters CD.
Maybe a better (cleaner) version of this material will be released in the future but I can't see why Harald Gernhardt won't recommend this CD. I think it's a great bootleg with a lot of 'new' songs.
